Introduction to Girls Lacrosse
The Girls Elementary School division welcomes young female athletes to the exciting world of lacrosse. This division emphasizes skill development, teamwork, and building confidence in a supportive, fun environment.
What Parents Should Expect
- Basic Skills: Focus on cradling, throwing, catching, scooping ground balls, and shooting techniques
- Modified Game Play: Smaller fields with modified rules to emphasize learning and participation
- No Checking: Girls lacrosse at this level prohibits body checking and stick checking to ensure safety
- Teamwork Focus: Emphasis on passing, communication, and working together as a team
- Position Introduction: Players learn about different positions including attack, midfield, defense, and goalie
- Positive Environment: Encouragement and skill-building take priority over winning
Developmental Goals
By the end of the elementary season, girls should feel comfortable with their stick, understand basic field positioning, and develop a love for the game. The goal is to build a strong foundation while fostering friendships and confidence.
