12U Division (Ages 11-12)

Advancing the Game

12U is a pivotal division where players transition from learning the game to truly playing it. Competition increases, and players develop more sophisticated understanding of lacrosse strategy.

What Parents Should Expect

  • Advanced Skills: Behind-the-back passes, split dodges, riding, and clearing become part of the repertoire
  • Tactical Understanding: Players learn offensive sets, defensive slides, and transition play
  • Increased Physicality: Body checking introduced (boys), more aggressive positioning (girls)
  • Specialized Positions: Players may begin to specialize in attack, midfield, defense, or go
  • Higher Competition: Games become more competitive, and tournament play may be introduced

Developmental Goals

12U players should demonstrate strong fundamental skills, understand team strategy, and be able to execute plays in game situations. This is when players often decide if they want to pursue lacrosse more seriously.
